Men’s Health

We know that sometimes men find it hard to talk about health.  We believe in health equality and that everyone is entitled to good health irrespective of their gender.  Sometimes, sadly, there has been historically and culturally an expectation that men should be invulnerable.  We have all heard phrases such as “man up” being used which we feel create barriers to men addressing their health needs.  We try to do things differently.  We recognise that no one is immune to health problems.  We provide a confidential space for you to explore and address any health concerns you have.  We believe that you have a right to preventative healthcare and encourage you to come to talk to us at any age and stage of your life.

We can discuss some common health concerns experienced by men such as prostate problems, loss of libido (sex drive) or erectile problems. We can talk about any changes that are of concern to you.  Common concerns include  weight gain or loss, hair thinning or breast tissue enlargement (yes, men have breast tissue).

Men’s mental health is a big focus for us.  Men can get mental health problems too and these can be expressed as insomnia, anger, low mood, loss of libido, lack of energy or being more withdrawn.  We believe men should be able to talk about stress, relationship difficulties, depressed mood, anxiety, in fact any problems you might be having with your mental or physical health.

Check out this website which provides further information about some common men’s health issues.
