My Menopause Clinic

With Dr Ivana Matic-Stancin

Dr Ivana offers comprehensive health reviews and clinical advice to all women experiencing menopausal symptoms. Dr Ivana is a member of the Australasian Menopause Society and the British Menopause Society https://thebms.org.uk/.

Types of appointments that are available:

One-on-one appointments

This is a menopause health GP appointment in a face-to-face setting. The initial appointment is 60 minutes long and includes a comprehensive health and symptoms review and a lifestyle assessment. Follow-up appointments can be 15, 30, or 60 minutes long. These are private services.

It includes a review of your symptoms and a complete health assessment, encompassing management planning and implementation.

It is not only a “bikini” health assessment but also a cardiovascular, bone, gut, metabolic, and mental health and well-being assessment.

During the appointment, you can also discuss what type of therapy would suit you, considering your preferences, health status and possible contraindications to pharmacotherapy.

Depending on their health needs, some women will need referrals to other specialized health professionals, such as a gynecologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, psychologist, counsellor, health coach, nutritionist, and exercise physiologist.

Shared Medical Appointments-SMA

Group appointments between Dr Ivana and 5-10 perimenopausal women. These are called shared medical appointments (SMA). SMA is a private clinic.

SMA complies with Medicare requirements and requires all participants to sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement. It is an opportunity to spend 90 minutes with Dr. Ivana, who facilitates the group consultation.

SMA offers a different approach to dealing with perimenopausal symptoms and understanding more about the physiology of menopause and the ways one can improve health and alleviate symptoms during this natural hormonal transition.

CBT Program for Peri/Menopausal Symptoms

Dr Ivana is running a 6-session group program of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for managing hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, and insomnia for peri/menopausal women. This program is an evidence-based NICE guideline: https://thebms.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/01-BMS-TfC-CBT-NOV2022-A.pdf endorsed nonpharmacological intervention for managing those symptoms. The program is for women who cannot or do not want to take hormonal treatment. Women who are on HRT can also participate in the program. The program is available from early 2024 and delivered in a small group with Dr Ivana. It runs on Saturdays for six weeks and will be offered in Maxwell Medical Group Clinic a few times a year.

Each session will last 90 minutes, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm, and all enrolled participants should arrive on time and commit to attending all six sessions to gain the full benefits of the program. According to the research and The British Menopause Society guidelines, spending 15-30 minutes each day reflecting on the material covered in the previous sessions is recommended to get the full benefit of the program.

We offer three courses in 2024: March, May, and November.

If interested, please call the clinic and put your name on the waiting list. Our admin team will send you the information packet. If you have additional questions, you can schedule a 15-minute telehealth appointment with Dr Ivana, who can answer your questions about the program before enrolling.

Please note that groups are small, and places are limited. Priority will be given to patients of Maxwell Medical Group, but all women can enrol in the program.

Dr Ivana is looking forward to seeing you soon!
